3D Printing Maracas for Special Needs
With the financial support from Prairie Meadows, our 7th graders have 3D printers up and running in the art room!!! Better yet, kids are finding ways to helps others with their new found toy in the art room. Pictures below are of Chad Fox (designing a paintbrush holder), Gavin Schmidt (making a 3D printed clay mold), and Jack Elliot (with his finished maraca designs). Thanks to all that are working on designs to pay it forward, but to view the write-up on these boys feel free to go to Des Moines Register and Channel 5 News.
Ankeny Schools Foundation Funds Christmas Ornaments for the elderly
A BIG thank you goes out to Ankeny Schools Foundation! With their support, 7th grade students created over 400 ornaments for two assisted living residences in Ankeny, Iowa (Mill Pond and Rock Creek Senior Living).
Thank you to all that made designs for the elderly and were able to warm their hearts and visit with them when gifting them the ornaments for the winter holidays.

Pottery Wheel Fun!!!
I'm not the best at capturing each pottery wheel memory, but so far this year I can account for 110+ pottery wheel creations. For myself, I can attest to volunteering 60+ hours working with kids before/after school and/or during my plan periods, but it truly would have evolved into the success story that it is without the student support.
A BIG thank you to Cate Benning, Alivia Brown, Amina Haurdic, Grady Kean,
Daniel Lor, and Ava Saner who time and time again have helped so many other 7th graders learn this skill (when I'm busy teaching a class. You all have huge hearts and this guy is going to miss teaching you all. Thank you for being You.

CAD Kids for Kindness Club
Once a month this club has been meeting during terms 3 and 4 to create cork coasters for our teacher associates. To do this, kids have used CAD (computer aided design) using Google Drawing and a Glowforge laser engraver. The coasters will be finished by the end of the school year for teacher associates for all of the hard work they have done helping our kids.
